Canada is seeking to recruit nurses from The Philippines. According to Canadian Visa Professionals, Canada is experiencing a nursing shortage and the country is turning to The Philippines to help fill the positions.
CBC News has discovered that the recruitment process of nurses from The Philippines has been in existence since the 1960s.
Canadian Visa Professionals could establish that many Canadian experts emphasize the importance of Filipino nurses to Canada’s healthcare system. Filipino nurses make up a growing portion of regulated nurses in Canada.
A 2021 statistic from the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI) shows that four percent of regulated nurses working in Canada graduated from The Philippines.
Role of Canadian Politicians in Recruiting Filipino Nurses
Canadian Visa Professionals could confirm that Canadian politicians are well-invested in recruiting Filipino nurses.
Most of the provincial politicians and health leaders have travelled to The Philippines in the last year in hopes of filling Canada’s nurse staffing shortages, which have resulted in ER closures, delayed surgeries and long waits for patients in ERs.
Over the years, Canadian politicians have shown great efforts in recruiting nurses from The Philippines. In 2022, the governments of Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Manitoba organized health leaders who embarked on numerous trips to The Philippines to recruit nurses.
Canadian Visa Professionals could confirm that these trips to The Philippines are to highlight the recruitment offers they have for Filipino nurses, attract new talent, and contribute to Canadian healthcare.
